POST OF 6/5/20
For the first time in nearly three months, the Sacrament of Confession will be celebrated in our Church on Saturdays from 10AM to 11AM, starting tomorrow, June 6th. As before, Priests will be available in their confessionals, but with added protections for you and them. The confessionals are now fitted with plexiglass shields to cover the mesh that separates Priest from Penitent. This cover is thin enough that Priest and Penitent can hear each other, while also protecting each other from the aerosols ejected while speaking. While making Confession, the Penitent must: 1) keep the door to the confessional open so as to allow airflow, 2) keep their mask or face covering on at all times, as is required now in the Church, and 3) spray down the plexiglass cover after finishing Confession by using disinfectant spray available in the confessional. Safety Monitors will be present in the Church to make sure proper social distancing procedures are followed, and that people are kept at a distance from the confessionals so that no one may hear another person's Confession. We hope and pray that we may quickly return to our normal way of celebrating the Sacraments, but we thank God that we have the opportunity to celebrate them in this way now!"
