The St. Vincent de Paul Society was introduced to Immaculate Conception in the 1990’s.
The purpose of the society is twofold:
To assist those parishioners who are in need by distributing food twice a month on a Saturday morning from our parish food pantry, and
- To provide an opportunity for parishioners to donate good used clothing by arranging for the diocesan St. Vincent de Paul truck twice a year. The truck is parked outside Church for several hours on a Sunday morning.
Volunteers who work on these projects have an opportunity to become aware of those in need by sorting food, preparing bags for distribution and giving the food on Saturday. Seeing a smile of gratitude and hearing a heartfelt “thank you” assures the volunteers that they are indeed contributing in some small way to “feeding the hungry” and “clothing the naked.” God’s mercy is shown through them.
